About this project
This project is financed by RE:Source (Swedish Energy Council), starting March 1, 2017 and ends December 31, 2019. In this project three partners are engaged NSR, Svensk Avfallsrådgivning and Stena Recycling AB.
The research project deals with the prevention of industrial and commercial waste. The purpose is to map the barriers that waste producers see to waste prevention, and how they consider that these barriers can be overcome. We call these barriers for lock-ins and strategies to overcome them for unlockings. The respondents are involved with any of the four types of waste that the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket) has pointed out as priorities for waste prevention: textile waste, food waste, electric and electronic waste (WEEE), and construction waste.
The project aims at contributing to four goals of the Re:Source strategic innovation program. Most to the goal about developing and implementing new technical solutions and business models for sustainable resource and waste management, but also the goals about de-veloping new sustainable services.
The project follows a qualitative and interactive methodology that combines individual interviews about lock-ins with focus groups meetings about unlockings.
