"It makes you think, do things and connect everything from a global perspective which is a vital learning element for me."

Carlson

Carlson Leandry Mutajwaa from Tanzania is currently studying the Master's Programme with specialisation Retail. We asked him what he thinks about his studies, student life in Helsingborg and why he choose to study Retail.

What is the best thing about your programme?
There is so many layers to uncover when describing the uniqueness of this master program. First and far most is the international diversity of both staff members and students. It makes you think, do things and connect everything from a global perspective which is a vital learning element for me. The program is well tailored, very anticipating and highly competitive which is designed to help student to professionally develop ideas and thoughts for their independent research work.

Why did you choose the specialisation Retail?
I am naturally an entrepreneur. I got selling flairs flowing in my blood veins, but I needed a professional touch to add to what I already have, and Lund University has the best way of sharpening minds with their theoretical approaches in learning process that’s why I am here.

What do you think of the teaching style within the programme?
It is very challenging and give you special opportunities to engage with the subject from different angles that makes you understand it inside out and hence render you with an undisputed knowledge that you cannot easily forget.

What do you plan to do after your studies?
I have two wild dreams, first is to open my own International service consultation firm focusing on Africa Marketing setting. I want to help spread the knowledge I acquired in Lund University for example which leads to my second dream of opening retail gold store chains across the globe.

What do you do in your spare time?
I usually like to meet with other master students for an evening walk, board games and movie nights. On the weekend I have time to write new songs, sing and dance. I plan to start working part time in later days.

What is it like to live in Sweden and what have you learnt from it so far?
Sweden is a beautiful country with plenty of opportunities. You need to be bold and daring in order for you to fit in the society. Avoid isolating yourself rather go where Swedes go and do what Swedes do then you will be able to speak Swedish, have Swedish friends and do the things you truly like to do without feeling alone.

Do you have any advice for students considering to study at Lund University or Campus Helsingborg?
Studying in Lund is a life changing experience so make sure it does not take you by surprise. Being here helps you put together your plans for your future carrier, so tackle it with excitement. Be open to make new professional connections and have fun as you study. Campus Helsingborg is beautifully filled with lots of wonderful people from across the globe with whom one can do lots of different social activities. So welcome to your future where academia meets normal life. Welcome to Lund University.
