"Service management gives you that edge"

Andreas Ivarsson

Andréas Ivarsson from Sweden studies a Master's in Service Management with specialisation Supply Chain Management. We asked him what he think's about his choice of education.

What is the best thing about your programme?

"I would say that our programme's strength lies in the fact that it's so broad, which gives you loads of opportunities when you graduate. You can really find your own niche within supply chain management during the programme, which makes it easier for you to find a field that you know you'll like when you start looking for jobs."

Why did you choose the specialisation in Supply Chain Management?

"I chose it partly because it was the natural way to go after my Bachelor's degree in logistics, and also because it gives me a broad variety of possibilities when I graduate. Supply chain management is such a large field and you can work with anything from production and transportation to sales. I really think that service management gives you that edge as well, to be able to work within supply chain management while being service-minded. All other knowledge we get from the Department of Service Management and Service Studies will benefit us in several ways too."

What do you think of the teaching style?

"I really think the variety of methods used to teach us is a great teaching style, where we as students often get a lot of freedom. I think we learn a lot from that."

What are you planning to do after your studies?

"I'm planning to work within the automotive industry. I haven't really decided where in the supply chain yet though. I currently work with logistics in the automotive industry during the summers, and I think it's loads of fun to work with a product or within a field that you're really passionate about."

What do you do in your spare time?

"Usually, I hang out with friends, work out, or go to the great parties that the student life of Helsingborg offers. At any other time, I love to watch motorsports, Formula 1, Indycar, or MotoGP: if wheels, an engine, and racing are involved, I'm watching it!"

Do you have any advice for students considering studying at Lund University and Campus Helsingborg?

"I would say that the absolute best thing you could do is get involved with the student association called Stampus in Helsingborg, you won't regret it! You'll meet so many new friends and study-buddies – your life as a student will become so rewarding and you'll have the time of your life at all their events and parties."
