It was a mixed group of twenty students from the bachelor's and master's programme in service management who went east together with three lecturers in tourism: Josefine Östrup Backe, Malin Zillinger and Jan Henrik Nilsson.
They travelled by bus and boat via Stockholm to Estonia. The trip offered interesting stops in different areas of the tourism industry in Estonia. After a city tour in Tallinn, they travelled on to Pärnu, where they visited a spa hotel, an apple farm and got a guided tour in a national park by a company that also manufactures traditional extended logboats, an item on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The journey home was taken for the first time via Helsinki where they also went on a city walk before jumping on the ferry home to Sweden.
Pärnu is a twin town of Helsingborg and the trip was made possible with a grant from Helsingborg municipality.
